Downtown Ramble

Downtown’s First Friday Art Ramble from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 4, includes a grand opening at M. Phillips Gallery, an opening of work by Robert “Shoofly” Shufelt at Main Street Gallery, new works at Blue Gate Gallery and Tierra Montana, as well as exhibits at the Las Cruces Museum of Art and the Branigan Cultural Center.

Music night features J. Wagner, Trevor Reichman

J. Wagner and Trevor Reichman will perform at the Black Box Theatre, 430 N. Downtown Mall, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10.

Wagner’s songs have been recorded by Victoria Williams, Calexico, Isobel Cambell of Bell and Sebastian, 3 Penny Acre, Gregory Isakov, Brandi Carlile and countless others. He was labeled a “No. 1 Best Bet” by both the Austin American Statesman and the Dallas Morning News. He has appeared at many music festivals and was a twotime regional finalist in the Kerrville New Folk Songwriter Competition.

Border Book Festival welcomes the homegirls

Schwartz, Padilla work with gangs in Los Angeles

The Border Book Festival (BBF), will host Leslie Schwartz, editor of The Homeboy Review, and Janae Padilla, Homegirl from Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles on Friday, Nov. 6, through Sunday, Nov. 8.

A free public reception and reading will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at the Cultural Center de Mesilla, 2231 Calle de Parian. The reading will take place at 6 p.m. Copies of “The Homeboy Review” and Homeboy merchandise will be available for sale.
